Don’t skip breakfast

Breakfast provides a dynamic boost to energy and nutrient levels. So make sure you get every day a great start for you and your baby.

Drink plenty of water and other liquids

Pregnant women dehydrate more quickly than normal, and need extra for the amniotic fluid, and drinking plenty of water and juices is important, especially when exercising or if the weather is hot.

Choose whole meals

Bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, and breakfast cereals. These provides energy for you, and for the baby to grow. Choosing whole meal or high fiber forms will help to keep you feeling packed between meals and also to avoid constipation and piles which are common problems in pregnancy.

Eat lots of Fruits and Vegetables

Fresh, dried, frozen, and juiced all count. Target for a wide variety of foods and vegetables and at least five portion every day to ensure you are getting plenty of vitamins and minerals.

Eat lots of dairy foods

Dairy foods (milk, cheese and yoghurts) are a main source of calcium. It’s important for the mother’s and baby’s teeth and bones. Choose low fat variations when you can.

Rich protein foods

Chicken, fish, eggs, beans and nuts. These foods are also great sources of iron. Target to eat reasonable portions each day.

Two portion of fish each week

Use oily fish, like trout etc., are important for supplying the baby with long-chain fatty which are important for development of the eyes and brain.

Don’t be curious into eating for two

Only 200 calories a day equivalent to 2 slices of toast and butter. You don’t actually need extra calories during pregnancy until the third trimester when the baby grows rapidly and even then your need for additional calories does not increase by great compact.

Stay active

The average pregnancy weight gain is 10-12 kilograms or 22-28 lbs. gaining too much weight can affect your health and blood pressure. Similarly, it is important to avoid dieting when pregnant as this can limit the baby’s nutrition. Being active not only helps to moderate weight gain, but also prepares the body for birth.
